Stanford is committed to fostering experiences, relationships, and environments that contribute to the good of our community and ensure that every student feels a firm sense of belonging. Hazing of any kind is antithetical to these goals and many hazing activities are also against the law. Stanford prohibits hazing activities.

Stanford's Commitment

In 2024, Federal and State Legislation was passed, known as the California Stop Campus Hazing Act and Federal Stop Campus Hazing Act in an effort to strengthen existing hazing laws, prevention, and education. The laws requires, among other requirements, the university to provide research-based comprehensive hazing prevention training for all incoming students, student organization leaders, and campus security authorities.

All university hazing information can be found on this website.

The university remains committed to supporting a thriving student organization community, free of hazing, where students can find a sense of belonging.

Report Incidents of Hazing

Stanford takes violations of the hazing policy extremely seriously, and encourages anyone who has been hazed, has witnessed hazing, or suspects someone they know has been hazed, to report these observations. Reports can be submitted anonymously or confidentially via the form or to any trusted staff, faculty member or Campus Security Authority.
